How to obtain a VET Qualification with AIM SA
AIM SA Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs are flexible, in most cases offering a wide range of course options.
VET qualifications can be completed through one or more of the following:
- Attendance at AIM SA Scheduled Courses
- Participation in an In-house Training program conducted by AIM SA for the employee’s organisation
- Skills Recognition – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Skills Recognition – Credit Transfer (CT)
Employer Government Training Incentives of up to $4000 are available for most AIM SA Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma qualifications, for eligible participants. Click here for more details.
Self-paced versus Intensive programs
Everybody’s training needs are different. Most AIM SA qualifications are completed ‘self-paced’ – that is, you choose the core and elective courses relevant to your current or future role (we can provide assistance with course choices), attend each course one by one and complete an assessment for each individual course between course dates (we recommend leaving 4-6 weeks between each course to allow time for you to complete and submit assessments). Skills Recognition and Credit Transfer options are also available.
However a number of our popular qualifications can also be completed in ‘intensive’ format – that is, we’ve grouped the most popular units of competency together (units which we believe provide a well-rounded qualification), you attend on the scheduled dates and complete a project assessment which encompasses all of the relevant units of competency, submitted within 3 months of the last training date.
The format participants choose to complete their qualification in is a personal choice, however AIM SA’s Learning & Development team can provide further information and guidance.
Assessments
Assessment consolidates what has been learnt, completes the training process, and provides you with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
The assessment process is not complicated or even difficult. It is an essential way to consolidate what has been learnt and supports the direct application of the new learning into the workplace, providing a measurable return on investment to both the employer and employee.
A variety of assessment techniques may be applied to determine competency, including but not limited to: in-class tasks, questioning, written questions and answers, application workbooks, workplace evidence, project tasks, and third-party comments. For most courses you will be required to complete a workplace assignment to demonstrate that you are competent to apply all required knowledge and skills to your workplace.
There are no exams in AIM SA VET programs.
