Professional Membership

Are you receiving the recognition you deserve as a manager?

A survey conducted by the Australian Institute of Management SA (AIM SA) found that:

  • 100% of respondents said it was important for a manager to commit to ethical work practices;
  • 97% of respondents believe it is important as a manager to keep up to date with the latest trends in business and management;
  • 62% of respondents said that when employing a person for a managerial role, it was important that person had previously demonstrated their commitment to a career in management;
  • 71% of respondents said that when employing a person for a managerial role, Professional Membership of AIM would be viewed as either a positive or very positive factor when selecting a candidate; and
  • 87% of respondents said that they saw Professional Membership of AIM as a method of demonstrating experience and intent to keep up to date with the latest trends in business and management.

Professional Membership of the Australian Institute of Management is your public commitment as a professional manager.

As Australia’s only association for professional managers, you will be aligning yourself with over 20,000 other managers Australia wide as a person of experience, integrity and professionalism.

To join as a Professional Member – you need to have a minimum of two years experience in a management or supervisory role – dependant on qualifications.

Professional Membership is offered in three levels of status – Member (AIMM) – Associate Fellow (AFAIM) and Fellow (FAIM). Membership status is determined by experience and qualifications.


Levels of Membership

 

Member (AIMM)

For those with experience of five (5) years or more in a position that contains responsibilities of a managerial nature. It’s important to note that titles are not important – management is a function!

Associate Fellow (AFAIM)

For more experienced managers with five (5) years or more as a chief executive, general manager or senior functional manager, who delegates authority to several other persons holding positions which require management skills of at least Member level.

Fellow (FAIM)

For the most experienced managers with six (6) years or more as a chief executive or group/chief general manager of an organisation of such complexity as to require the delegation of management authority to staff of Associate Fellow level. Or Divisional, regional or state general manager in an organisation of such complexity as to require the delegation of management authority to staff of Associate Fellow level.

 

Certified Professional Manager (CPMgr) (only in SA)

Our professional certification level for people with at least five (5) years work experience with a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory position, and have a relevant business/management degree or Graduate Diploma in Management, and agree to complete the required 90 hours per triennium of continuing professional development, and abide by the code of ethics and professional conduct. Note that any category of membership can also have CPMgr associated with them. (ie. AIMM CPMgr through to FAIM CPMgr)    Please click here for more information on CPMgr.

    (eg. current job description and your organisational chart)

Please note: All professionals wishing to apply for CPMgr also receive a national membership classification (AIMM, AFAIM, FAIM).
Therefore there are no additional fees to be admitted as a CPMgr (dependant on qualifications).

The application and membership fee is payable on application.
